Will Golden State fall on their swords?

According to local outlet Bleacher Report, “The Golden State Warriors will listen to trade offers for Jordan Poole and Jonathan Cuming. Golden State, which owns the 19th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, could also trade that pick.”

Last season, Golden State won the NBA championship in a miraculous and dramatic run. The resurgence of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, along with the breakout performances of Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney, and the development of rookies like Poole, led the Warriors to victory.

Golden State was so confident in Poole’s development last regular season and playoff performance that they gave him a massive four-year, $130 million contract before the start of this season. The Warriors saw Poole as their next ace after Curry.

This season, however, Poole has disappointed Golden State’s expectations. Poole averaged 20.4 points and 4.5 assists this season. While his numbers were up slightly from last season, his field goal percentage dropped from 44.8% to 43% and his turnovers increased from 2.5 to 3.1. The defense was still terrible. Opponents aggressively attacked the perimeter and found cracks in Golden State’s defense.

The biggest problem was his playoff performance. After averaging 17 points and 3.8 assists in the playoffs last season, Poole had his worst performance in the playoffs this season with 10.3 points and 3.5 assists. Poole had a significant stake in Golden State’s playoff exit.메이저놀이터

Golden State could certainly consider trading Poole. The Warriors have Curry, the team’s omega and alpha, and he’s nearing the end of his prime. They need to target Wynnau while Curry is still in form. From that perspective, the strategy of sending a pool and immediately acquiring a veteran player with a sense of urgency makes sense.

The question is whether any team would be willing to trade Poole, who is worth less than he was last season, for an immediate impact player. This is where Golden State’s decision becomes crucial.
