Professional soccer club FC Seoul’s international striker Hwang Eui-jo, who impressed in what could be his final home game with an early mid-range strike, says he has “no idea yet” about his future.

Seoul drew 1-1 with Pohang Steelers in their 18th round home match of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Nov. 11.

Hwang Ui-jo rattled the net with a spectacular early right-footed mid-range shot.

After receiving a pass from Klinsmann, Hwang beat one defender on the left outside the penalty area in the 37th minute, and then struck a powerful shot with his right foot that went into the far corner of the goal, out of the goalkeeper’s reach.

Hwang, who was on loan to Olympiakos (Greece) from Nottingham Forest (England), returned to the K League after a six-year absence when he joined Seoul on a “six-month short-term loan” ahead of this winter’s training camp.

Seoul only has one game left before the end of June, when his contract expires, an away match against Suwon Samsung on June 24.

In a post-match interview, Hwang said, “I still haven’t heard from my agent. I’m not in a position to talk about it, and I don’t know anything,” he said after the game.

Before the game, Seoul coach Ahn Ik-soo said of Hwang Ui-jo, “His demeanor is always cool. It took a while for that to translate into a goal, but I think he’ll continue to be great,” he said, before adding, “I don’t know,” about his future.

Hwang Ui-jo, who knocked on the Pohang goal several times on the day with five shots and two on target, said, “I’m positive that my game sense and scoring sense have improved a lot as I continue to play,” and vowed, “First of all, I will try to play well in the A match and then make a good showing next season.”

“I tried to take as many (shots) as possible, but I’m satisfied that they went in,” Hwang said, adding, “It’s important to score goals and help the team win, but it’s unfortunate that we drew.”

“The players did a good job for 90 minutes, and if we could have held on for one more, we could have taken three points, but we only got one,” he said, adding, “I hope the team will regroup after the A-Match break and catch up with the top teams, including Ulsan Hyundai.”

“There’s always competition in the national team,” said Hwang, who was called up by national team coach Jürgen Klinsmann to compete with the likes of Cho Kyu-sung (Jeonbuk) and Oh Hyun-gyu (Celtic) for the starting striker position.메이저놀이터

“I will show what I have, and Cho Kyu-sung and Oh Hyun-gyu will show what they do best,” he said, adding, “I think we learn a lot from each other’s strengths.”

After Pohang’s late stoppage-time theater goal snatched a point from the jaws of victory, Ahn said of Hwang’s wonder goal: “It’s something to celebrate. There are some regrets,” he said briefly.
