The KPGA’s 13th edition of the Desert Korea Match Play will be held at Kings Golf Course in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do next month.

The KPGA’s 13th Desant Korea Matchplay (800 million won in total prize money, 160 million won for the winner) will be held at Kingsdale GC (Par 72-7323) in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do, for four days starting next month.

The tournament, which is the only match-play event on the KPGA Tour, has abandoned the preliminary match-play, followed by a pool league and then a final, in favor of a preliminary pool league and then a match-play. The KLPGA Tour’s Doosan Matchplay, as well as regular match-play tournaments, feature 64 players divided into 16 groups, with the top players in each group advancing to the round of 16 to determine the winner.

However, Descent Matchplay has always played a round of 64 and round of 32 tournament, followed by a group stage with 16 players in four groups and a winner on points. As the field dwindled toward the championship, the tournament-style format turned what should have been a thrilling competition into a boring pool league. Golf fans had to scour the results of the 16 players to see who would make it to the final.

Last year, Park Eun-shin topped the leaderboard after three round of 16 matches, and he and Kim Min-joon ended up in the final.

This season, however, the format has changed.

The 64 players will be organized into 16 groups of four. Unlike the KLPGA Tour, where the top 16 seeds draw the rest of the players, this tournament organizes the groups by categorizing the A B C D seeds and assigning them one by one.

The top one player in each group will advance to the round of 16, and if there is a tie for first place, a sudden-death overtime match will be played to determine the winner.메이저놀이터

From the round of 16 to the final, players will play a one-on-one tournament. The quarterfinalists will play the fifth through eighth place matches, and the semifinalists will play the third through fourth place matches, but it’s questionable whether the fifth through eighth place matches are necessary.

The tournament schedule is set for two group stage games on June 1, followed by the final three games on June 2. On June 3, the round of 16 will be played in the morning and the quarterfinals in the afternoon. On the final day, June 4, the quarterfinals and 5th-8th place games will be played in the morning, followed by the final and final place game in the afternoon.
